Do you remember consulting with a Feng Shui practitioner while you’re deciding on the layout of your home? Have you consulted with one before purchasing your current house or choosing the space that you are now renting? If not, or if you’ve only started to become more conscious of Feng Shui elements lately, then you’re probably concerned if your house’s layout and features will work to your advantage and enable you to make the most of your fortune.
One of the areas of the home that can affect the Feng Shui of the entire property is the bathroom. This area should be placed with much consideration and care, as it can significantly impact the other rooms around it. Uncle Dixer received a question from someone who’s planning the layout of their house. In particular, the person is concerned about the spaces that surround the bathroom and how this will impact their home.
Dear Uncle Dixer: The bathroom wall will be behind the bed wall. The bathtub, on the other hand, will be on the other side of the wall. The toilet will be on the wall that is connected to the side of the hallway. Should this be fixed?
Answer: This configuration does not sound so bad because your bed is not against the wall with the toilet. Install a headboard for your bed if you don’t have one already, and keep the bed a little away from the wall and you will be fine. If you place your bed too close to the wall with the pipes, then your sleep might be disturbed every time someone uses the bathroom, as you’ll hear the water running through the pipes while you’re supposed to be resting. The addition of a headboard will help soften the impact of the noise coming from the bathroom at night, thereby reducing the chances that your sleep will be disturbed.
Your bedroom should be a place of rest and relaxation, and it should be shielded from light and noise that can disturb your peace in the evenings. The configuration offered by the person who asked the current question works, as it places the bed away from possible sources of noise at night. If it’s not possible to put a bit of distance between your bed and the wall where the water pipes are running through, though, it’s an option to make use of elements that can dampen possible disturbances coming from the bathroom, such as a good headboard for your bed.
