Feng Shui 2026: The 1 Water Year

2026 may be the Year of the Fire Horse in Chinese Astrology, but in other Chinese metaphysical systems we call it a 1 Water Year. What can that mean for us individually or as large groups of people? Most astrologers think that 2026 will be a very intense year.  In Feng Shui, the 1 Water Star is in the “center cell,” occupying none of the Eight Basic Directions. The center is a non-literal space, the point where the eight basic directions narrow to meet.

In Nine Star Ki, the same annual cycle exists, with the 1 Water Star in the center cell, but with a different palette of interpretations. We can compare what these cycles have in common and where they diverge.

Feng Shui for 2026

Like a control tower, the energy in the center of a house or building can represent a hidden agenda or a potential for the entire space and the occupants. It can suggest a theme for the year, but for some structures, this 1 Water star will have more significance than others.

For example, homes built between 2004-2023, which face west, they are all in a one year Money Lock for 2026. This can undermine financial luck for the occupants.  For houses which are built in the same time frame and facing east, they are all in a one year People Lock, which can undermine health and relationships.  Every year, a handful of house types must go through this locked phase. Not most, but some. Feng Shui remedies are used to release this locked phase.

While Feng Shui predictions are usually made for residential or commercial spaces, the cycle of the stars can also allude to themes, events or trends that may occur on a larger scale, even globally. For example, the center star is associated with an element and that element could imply that certain industries may be especially newsworthy or that certain natural phenomena may also be more active. In the case of the metal element, it can symbolize money and financial markets.   For the 1 Water Year, the element of water will take “center stage.”

The center is associated in an original way with the 5 earth star (symbolic of the Sun).  When the 1 Water Star joins it, a domination cycle happens, such as earth blocking or destroying water (water + earth= mud).  If the 1 Water Star is associated with literal water and fluid systems of the body, we may experience more illness world-wide, including blood or kidney issues.

The 5 earth/1 water combination in Feng Shui can also point to poisoning or contamination of blood. Let’s pray that an entire community is not poisoned, but we also have real threats of terrorism and one target includes municipal water filtration.

All eight directions and the annual star positioned there for the year have a relationship with each other.  In fact, some practitioners focus most of their attention on where the 5 star positions itself for the year.  The volatile 5 star will be in the direction of South and that is worse than other directions because South is inherently associated with fire. Additionally, we have a double whammy in 2026 because the Horse direction is also related to dead-on South. This makes the South direction even more precarious.  Fire enhances the 5 earth and that will intensify things. If we look at a map of the United States, states like Texas are in the south. We may predict some catastrophe in that area for the year.  Each city or town in their south sector may have something happen, such as fire, riot, train derailment or any mishap that is shocking.

The Hierarchy of the Annual Star

Sometimes the annual star in any part of the floor plan could be the main influence, and yet other times it still takes a back seat to the permanent energies. They influence each other and that is why I don’t make generic recommendations.  For example, the 7 metal star is in the southwest sector for 2026. This energy can cause deceptions, betrayals, theft or injury.  Some homes will need water to reduce the power of the 7 metal star.  Other homes may need a more aggressive solution, which would be fire (Fire melts Metal). This is called the Domination cycle and it should be used less frequently than the more subtle Reductive cycle.

Reliant on many variables, including the unique floor plan, use of space, decor and occupants, the annual cycles of 2026 will be prosperous and supportive for some, but not for all.

Nine Star Ki Observations

The center star in this domain is called the Luo Shu Trend.  Attributes of the 1 Water Star in this system can relate to all things water. For natural phenomena, we could predict a year of more global hurricanes, tsunamis, flooding and snow.  Snow is water in a solid form and in that regard, we extrapolate further into something that will continue to be newsworthy, which is the island of Greenland.  Islands will be in the News as they are surrounded by water and in the case of Greenland, it is mostly covered in ice.

Of course, islands like Taiwan, Cuba or Hawaii and other islands around the world could be highlighted for one reason of another in 2026.  Equally, the 1 Water Star in Nine Star Ki is symbolic of infections and viruses. We may have another pandemic to deal, with noted in both Nine Star Ki and Feng Shui.

In Nine Star Ki, we also look to where the 5 star is located, but also which star is polar opposite, as that creates enough tension for things to manifest. The 5 star in the South will be polar opposite the 6 star in the North.  This “triggers” the 6 star, which wears many faces including the military, police, law enforcement, as well as ICE (an ironic acronym in a 1 Water Year). Government agencies and political leaders will be under more scrutiny and threat in 2026.

In Nine Star Ki, there is a concept called the Reversed Luo Shu Axis. This is a cycle which a star goes through where it is banished to a direction that is directly opposite of its more comfortable home base and this is why things can go awry.  For 2026, the 3 Wood Star is planted in the West palace. The home of 3 Wood is East, so when it’s hanging out in the West, it is not happy.

This can affect people on an individual level.  Those born in 1970, 1979, 1988, 1997, and all 3 Wood Star people may have a challenging year in 2026. They should have a back-up plan for all their activities and take the obstacles in stride as this is only an annual cycle.

On a larger scale, there are many extrapolations to the 3 star in the West, across from the 8 star in the East.  For example, the 3 star can represent all things electrical (including our communication devices). Something could go wrong on a large scale, like a cyber-attack. This is magnified by the 8 star since it can represent a group of people who become rebellious or riotous.  We all know someone who will lose their mind if their internet is down!  The 3 star is also related to a crack in the ground. When combined with the 8 star for mountains or hilly areas, we can see how this may indicate an increase in earthquakes.

Nine Star Ki also looks into monthly and even daily cycles, where the TV screen becomes a veritable crystal ball, showing us how predictable life can be, and validation to the saying that “History Repeats Itself.”
